Dr. Jessica K. Tsukamoto was born and raised on the island of Oahu in Hawaii. As the daughter of a general dentist and dental hygienist, she grew up attending dental conventions and working summers in her father’s Honolulu practice as a dental assistant and receptionist. She thus has a unique foundation in dentistry and feels very fortunate to work in a profession which perfectly blends her love of science, art, and caring for others.
Dr. Tsukamoto graduated from Iolani School in 2001 and then continued her studies at the University of California at Los Angeles. After graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Biology and minor in East Asian Languages in 2005, she worked as a research associate for a Honolulu-based biotechnology startup in an effort to develop an artificial human cornea. In 2007, Dr. Tsukamoto moved to Seattle to attend the University of Washington School of Dentistry, where she earned her Doctorate of Dental Surgery in 2011. She received a four-year merit scholarship from the state of Hawaii, and the Quintessence Award for Clinical Achievement in Restorative Dentistry upon graduation.
Committed to providing the best possible care to her patients, Dr. Tsukamoto recognizes the importance of continuing education to keep pace with the latest advances in dentistry. She attends lectures through local dental study clubs as well as the American Dental Association to learn about new techniques and products. Dr. Tsukamoto has also begun advanced didactic and clinical training at the Kois Center under the mentorship of Dr. John Kois, a renowned dental educator. She is a member of the American Dental Association, Washington State Dental Association, and Seattle King County Dental Society.
In her free time, Dr. Tsukamoto loves to stay active. After work, she frequents fitness classes such as kickboxing and step aerobics, dances Hula, Tahitian, and Salsa, and enjoys playing volleyball and tennis. Like Dr. Yang, she is an avid Husky and Seattle sports fan, and enjoys attending sporting and live music events.
Dr. Tsukamoto takes pride in helping her patients to achieve and maintain oral health and in creating beautiful smiles. She loves seeing the positive effects that a healthy smile can have on a person’s well-being and overall quality of life.
